Internet Retailing Awards winners highlight best of omnichannel retailing

The winners of the Internet Retailing Awards 2014 have been revealed, highlighting the best practice of multichannel and omnichannel retailers in the United Kingdom.

Sponsored by Venda, the third annual Awards celebrated a diverse range of businesses, both big and small, in sectors including fashion, homeware and food.

ASOS and Argos won two awards each (‘Best Retailer’ and ‘International’, and ‘Omni’ and ‘in Store’ respectively), representing the big names in e-commerce. However, Devon-based Cult Pens won the ‘Customer’ category, proving that smaller e-commerce ventures can also deliver the excellent service that online shoppers are looking for.

Amazon won the ‘Capability’ award, a reflection of the company’s ‘competitiveness and convenience’, while Tesco was awarded the ‘Innovation’ prize. The breadth of the categories demonstrates the many factors that online retailers now need to take into account, such as customer service and looking cross-border, while constantly innovating in new technology and fulfilment methods.

Internet Retailing’s editor-in-chief, Ian Jindal, said: “The prestigious shortlist and ultimate winners show the depth and extent of capability within our dynamic industry.”

The most recent ONS Retail Sales Bulletin revealed that online sales rose by 15% year-on-year in May.
