United States of America – Hurricane

13 September, 2017

USPS, wishes to update designated operators of UPU member countries on the status of its operations in the aftermath of Hurricane Irma, which struck South Florida on the morning of Sunday, 10 September 2017.

The office of exchange located in the Miami area has partially reopened and is operating in a degraded mode. Electrical power has not been fully restored, and processing operations are impacted. Mail that arrives at Miami Airport for processing at the OE may be delayed at the ramp or freight houses until the International Service Centre is fully functional, which is likely to be within the next day or two. Processing and delivery in the south-eastern United States surrounding Miami is impacted by the effects of the storm.

USPS will provide additional updates when available.

USPS thanks all designated operators for their understanding; it will update designated operators via EmIS once the situation has returned to normal.
