The designated operator of China, China Post Group Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "China Post"), wishes to inform Union member countries and their designated operators that Typhoon Bavi, the ninth typhoon so far this year, is severely affecting the southeastern coastal areas of China. With maximum wind speeds up to force 16 near its centre, Typhoon Bavi is expected to make landfall on 11 July. The southeastern coastal areas of China will be affected by the typhoon and its accompanying heavy rainfall and strong winds, with some localities expecting extraordinary torrential rains. Heavy rainfall is also forecast in northern and northeastern China. Road flooding and traffic disruptions in the above-mentioned areas will cause service disruptions to varying degrees in the collection, transit and delivery of domestic and international mail (letter-post, parcel-post and EMS items). China Post is closely monitoring the movement of the typhoon and weather changes, making every effort to ensure the safety of mail and provide service support, rationally allocating resources, and doing its utmost to deliver mail safely while keeping employees safe.
