Ecuador – Designation of the postal operator

The Ministry of Telecommunications and Information Society of Ecuador asks us to inform other Union member countries and their designated operators that, in accordance with article 2a of Executive Decree No. 1123 of 6 August 2020, the Ministry must, until 6 November 2020, carry out the necessary procedures for the official designation of a new entity responsible for operating international postal services, fulfilling the related obligations arising out of the Acts of the Union in Ecuador, and ensuring the provision of the universal postal service in that country.

In that regard, the fulfilment of the aforementioned obligations in Ecuador will be guaranteed by Empresa Pública Correos del Ecuador CDE E.P. until a new postal operator is designated in accordance with the Acts of the Union.

The Ministry of Telecommunications and Information Society of Ecuador thanks all other Union member countries and their designated operators for their understanding.
