Lithuania – Update on measures to limit the spread of COVID-19

21 December, 2020

Update

The designated operator of Lithuania, Lietuvos paštas, asks us to inform other Union member countries and their designated operators that the Lithuanian Government has approved tighter lockdown measures and extended the national quarantine regime until 31 January 2021.

The lockdown measures in place throughout the country include the mandatory closure of non-essential shops and services, as well as restrictions on movement.

While these measures remain in place, postal services will be operating under certain restrictions, such as limited working hours in post offices and a reduced workforce in order to minimize contact between people. Items normally requiring the addressee's signature upon delivery will be handed over without signature.

The processing and delivery of all types of inbound and outbound mail (letter-post, parcel-post and EMS items) will continue to be affected, and Lietuvos paštas is unable to guarantee compliance with the usual delivery standards. Therefore, the situation of force majeure declared in EmIS 240/2020 will continue to apply.

Lietuvos paštas thanks all Union member countries and their designated operators for their understanding.
