Mauritius – Severe weather conditions – Cyclone

Update

Mauritius Post, wishes to inform other Union member countries and their designated operators that cyclonic conditions have been prevailing in Mauritius since Tuesday, 1 February, with wind gusts of around 120 km/h recorded.  A class IV cyclone warning has now been issued by the Mauritius Meteorological Services.

The international airport has been closed since the evening of Monday, 31 January and will remain so until further notice. A number of flights to and from Mauritius have been postponed.

The transportation and processing of both inbound and outbound mails (letter-post, parcel-post and EMS items) is affected, and delivery of mails across the country will be delayed.

The authorities are closely monitoring the situation.
