The designated operator of Sri Lanka, the Department of Posts, wishes to inform all other Union member countries and their designated operators that the Government of Sri Lanka has announced a national lockdown effective from 21 to 30 August 2021.
Therefore, the restrictions announced in the above-mentioned EmIS message will continue to apply. Furthermore, all administrative work will be performed remotely, depending on the availability of resources. The processing and delivery of all inbound mail and the transportation of outbound mail will be heavily impacted by the current situation. As a result, the Department of Posts is unable to guarantee compliance with the agreed delivery standards for all mail categories.
The Department of Posts thanks all Union member countries and their designated operators for their understanding. It will update them via EmIS once the situation has returned to normal.
