Suriname – Update on measures to limit the spread of COVID-19

02 February, 2021

Update

The designated operator of Suriname, Suriname Postal Corporation (SURPOST), asks us to inform other Union member countries and their designated operators that, in view of the increasing number of COVID-19 infections, the Government of Suriname has decided that the borders will be open for cargo transport only (and therefore closed to passengers) with effect from 1 January 2021.

The UPU forms and documentation for the operation of postal services and exchange of postal items in accordance with the Acts of the Union (article 13 of the UPU Convention) must be provided for all inbound and outbound mail transported via cargo flights.

Delays are to be expected in the processing and delivery of mail, and it will not always be possible to provide proof of delivery.

SURPOST thanks all Union member countries and their designated operators for their understanding.
