Trinidad and Tobago – Measures to limit the spread of COVID-19

05 August, 2020

Update

Trinidad and Tobago Postal Corporation (TTPost) wishes to inform other Union member countries and their designated operators that, in order to limit the spread of COVID-19, the country's borders are currently closed to commercial air and sea traffic.

Authorizations have, however, been given for cargo flights to operate on a limited basis, but postal service quality for international inbound and outbound services and service delivery standards (including delivery time and other quality parameters) applicable under UPU provisions and related bilateral agreements with designated operators cannot be guaranteed until further notice.

TTPost is therefore declaring a situation of force majeure for all categories of inbound and outbound letter-post and parcel-post items (the suspension of Pay-for-Performance penalties having already been unanimously agreed by the EMS Cooperative).

TTPost thanks all Union member countries and their designated operators for their understanding. It will update them via EmIS once the situation has returned to normal.
