Viet Nam – Update on measures to limit the spread of COVID-19

25 August, 2021

Update

The designated operator of Viet Nam VNPost, wishes to inform other Union member countries and their designated operators that the Vietnamese government is currently implementing numerous tightening measures to prevent and control the COVID-19 epidemic in the southern region of Viet Nam, especially in Ho Chi Minh City (where the offices of exchange with IMPC codes VNSGNA and VNSGNB are located). All operations and activities at the airport, the port in Ho Chi Minh City, and the offices of exchange with IMPC codes VNSGNA and VNSGNB are interrupted.

In this connection, VNPost wishes to inform other designated operators that, with effect from 23 August 2021, all of inbound mail (letters, parcels and EMS items) sent to Viet Nam must be dispatched as follows:

- For letter-post and parcel-post items by air and parcel-post items by surface: other designated operators should stop dispatching to HOCHIMINH ND office of exchange (IMPC code VNSGNA) and should dispatch to HANOI ND office of exchange (IMPC code VNHANA) only.

- For EMS items: other designated operators should stop dispatching to HOCHIMINH EMS office of exchange (IMPC code: VNSGNB) and should dispatch to HANOI EMS office of exchange (IMPC code: VNHANB) only.

VNPost rejects all liability for postal items not dispatched by other designated operators according to the above instructions.

During this period, the delivery of inbound items will be very difficult and VNPost is unable to guarantee compliance with delivery standards. VNPost therefore requests that the UPU continue to apply force majeure in respect of its services until further notice.

For further information, please do not hesitate to contact to Ms Thuy (thuynt1@vnpost.vn).

VNPost thanks all Union member countries and their designated operators for their understanding, and apologizes for any inconvenience caused. It will provide updates via EmIS.
