Belize - Suspension of acceptance of items containing goods in transit to EU countries

02 July, 2026

Update

The designated operator of Belize, Belize Postal Service, wishes to inform Union member countries and their designated operators that, in the light of the recent changes to the European Union’s import regulations abolishing the duty-free de minimis threshold for imported goods, it is suspending the acceptance of open and closed transit items containing goods destined for all EU countries. This measure has been in effect since 1 July 2026 and until further notice, in accordance with article 17-013 of the Convention Regulations. Mail items not containing goods will continue to be accepted. Any transit or misrouted items containing goods that are destined for an EU country and arrive at the Belize Postal Service international mail processing centre will be returned to the country of origin. Belize Postal Service thanks all Union member countries and their designated operators for their cooperation in this matter.
