Italy - Attempted fraud targeting international postal accounts

The designated operator of Italy, Poste Italiane, wishes to alert Union member countries and their designated operators to various forms of attempted fraud targeting international postal accounts.   All official electronic communications issued by Poste Italiane are sent solely from e-mail addresses using the posteitaliane.it domain. Any electronic messages purporting to be from Poste Italiane and originating from other domains are to be considered non-authentic, non-official, and in no way associated with Poste Italiane.   Designated operators are requested to remain highly vigilant, to raise the awareness of the services concerned, and to take appropriate measures to prevent any risk of fraud or electronic identity theft.   Designated operators should continue to be guided by the relevant information available on the UPU website under International Bureau circulars with bank details [https://docs.upu.int/member-bank-information/SitePages/Home.aspx], as well as the contact details published in the Letter Post and Parcel Post Compendia. International Bureau circular 51 of 27 April 2026, containing Poste Italiane’s payment information for international postal accounts, remains valid.   Poste Italiane apologizes for any inconvenience and thanks all Union member countries and their designated operators for their understanding and cooperation.
