El Salvador – Partial resumption of postal services

11 July, 2020

Update

The designated operator of El Salvador, Correos de El Salvador, wishes to inform other Union member countries and their designated operators that postal services partially resumed on 16 June 2020, taking into account the measures established by the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Labour to avoid COVID-19 contamination.

The workforce continues to be reduced, however, and to operate on a unique schedule as a result of a public transport mobility restriction. Inbound and outbound commercial flights continue to be suspended at El Salvador international airport. The postal cargo received from cargo flights is transferred to the international mail processing centre (IMPC) on alternate days. In addition, with the need to establish a unique work schedule, the entrance of the load to the IMPC has been set between 13.00 and 14.30 (local time), before the critical measurement time using RFID, which is at 15.00. All international departure services have been fully suspended and will resume only once normal commercial flight operations have resumed at the international airport. Correos de El Salvador wishes to thank other Union member countries and their designated operators for their understanding
