Greece – Reinforced lockdown measures

15 February, 2021

Update

The designated operator of Greece, Hellenic Post, asks us to inform other Union member countries and their designated operators that, despite the general lockdown in place throughout Greece since the beginning of November 2020, there has been no significant improvement with regard to the COVID-19 pandemic. Indeed, there has been growing concern in the last few days regarding the rapidly increasing number of infections and the new strain of the virus that is affecting younger age groups.

To prevent an aggravation of this situation, the Government announced yesterday that even stricter lockdown measures would be implemented in the Attica region (which is home to half of the Greek population) with effect from 11 February 2021. It is very likely that the same will apply to other regions during the coming days.

Although Hellenic Post will endeavour to minimize the effects of these measures, the reinforced lockdown will nevertheless have a direct impact on all postal operations.

Hellenic Post apologizes for any inconvenience caused, and thanks Union member countries and their designated operators for their understanding and cooperation.
