Malaysia – Update on measures taken to minimize the spread of COVID-19

29 October, 2020

Update

The designated operator of Malaysia, Pos Malaysia, asks us to inform other Union member countries and their designated operators that, owing to the outbreak of COVID-19 and under the Restricted Movement Order enacted by the Government of Malaysia, restrictions have been imposed in Selangor and Putrajaya starting on 20 October 2020, in order to manage the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The restrictions include regulatory and health-related measures leading to a reduced workforce. This situation has resulted in greatly reduced processing capacity at Pos Malaysia's office of exchange and hub at Kuala Lumpur International Airport, and thus significant processing delays for inbound international letter post, parcel post and EMS items.

Pos Malaysia is fully committed to providing postal services to the extent possible. Domestic services and deliveries are still in operation; however, a situation of force majeure remains applicable with respect to quality of service and performance.

Pos Malaysia thanks all other Union member countries and their designated operators for their understanding
