Mauritius – Gradual lifting of lockdown

03 May, 2021

Update

Mauritius Post, wishes to inform other Union member countries and their designated operators that the Government of Mauritius has announced a gradual lifting of the current lockdown from 1 May 2021, with a second phase of resumption of certain additional economic activities. This decision was taken following a decrease in the number of COVID-19 cases.

However, the comprehensive health protocol in place will be maintained to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. The situation will continue to be monitored over the period 1 May to 1 June, at which point more commercial activities will be allowed if the situation continues to improve.

As noted in EmIS 100/2021, all postal activities resumed as of 12 April, but the dispatch of outbound mail and receipt of inbound mail continue to be affected owing to border closures and limited flights.

Therefore, the restrictions with respect to service standards and the application of force majeure set out in previous EmIS messages remain unchanged.

Mauritius Post thanks all Union member countries and their designated operators for their understanding and will inform them via EmIS once the situation has returned to normal.
