New Caledonia – Progressive lifting of lockdown

06 April, 2021

Update

The designated operator of New Caledonia, OPT-NC, wishes to inform other Union member countries and their designated operators that the confinement measures in place in New Caledonia will gradually be lifted over the period from 2 April to 11 April 2021. As a result, EmIS 75/2021 of 9 March 2021 will be modified as follows:

  • Letter-post, parcel-post and EMS items requiring the addressee's signature on delivery at OPT-NC post office counters will once again be handed over against the addressee's signature and, as appropriate, verification of the addressee's identity.
  • Letter-post, parcel-post and EMS items requiring the addressee's signature on delivery at the addressee's home by OPT-NC postmen/women will be delivered at a distance of two metres, in agreement with the addressee and following verification of the addressee's identity as appropriate. Once the addressee's name has been provided, the postman/woman will sign the proof of delivery and place the item on the addressee's doorstep. The person receiving the item will not sign the proof of delivery. Should the addressee not agree to the postman/women signing the proof of delivery, the item will be made available for collection at an OPT-NC post office. This measure will be put into place from 6 to 11 April 2021.

OPT-NC thanks all Union member countries and their designated operators for their understanding.
