New Zealand - Suspension/delays regarding transit mails to certain Pacific Island countries

07 December, 2021

Update

New Zealand Post, asks us to inform other Union member countries and their designated operators that it is currently unable to provide transit services to the Solomon Islands owing to the absence of available flights. In view of this situation, New Zealand Post is suspending transit services to the Solomon Islands until further notice. Furthermore, significant delays are to be expected in the dispatch of transit mail to Fiji, New Caledonia and Vanuatu, owing to the increase in export volumes during this peak period, the separation of staff in accordance with government-imposed measures to combat COVID-19, and delays in aviation security screening. New Zealand Post is making every effort to resolve these issues, but it is expected that it will take two weeks to clear the backlog.
