New Zealand – Alert Level 2 safety protocols at New Zealand Post sites in Greater Auckland

25 February, 2021

Update

The designated operator of New Zealand, New Zealand Post, asks us to inform other Union member countries and their designated operators that, on the evening of 23 February 2021, the government announced that new community cases of COVID-19 had been recorded in the Auckland area.

Auckland has returned to Alert Level 1 of the national pandemic plan, joining the rest of country. However, New Zealand Post has decided to implement Alert Level 2 safety protocols in most of the Greater Auckland area, in order to protect New Zealand Post staff and to keep its sites operating.

The Level 2 safety protocols (social distancing, restricted staff numbers, mandatory face masks, contactless deliveries and collections) will be implemented at the international office of exchange, major mail and parcel processing centres and all operational sites, as well as at collection points and during deliveries.

Areas impacted:

  • West Auckland;
  • Central Auckland;
  • South Auckland.

Postcodes areas impacted:

0600, 0602, 0604, 0610, 0612, 0614, 0616, 0618, 0814, 0816, 1010, 1011, 1021, 1022, 1023, 1024, 1025, 1026, 1041, 1042, 1050, 1052, 1060, 1061, 1062, 1072, 2010, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2016, 2018, 2019, 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025, 2102, 2103, 2104, 2105, 2110, 2112, 2113, 2120, 2123, 2473, 2571, 2576, 2577, 2578, 2580, 2582, 2583, 2584, 2585, 2675, 2679, 2684.

Given the current restrictions, New Zealand Post cannot guarantee the service delivery standards (such as delivery times and other quality parameters, transmission of scanning events, quality of service link to terminal dues) applicable to UPU products (notably letter-post, parcel-post and EMS items) in the above-mentioned areas and postcodes.

As the situation with regard to the latest community cases of COVID-19 is evolving rapidly, New Zealand Post will review this decision in 48 hours and will monitor the government's announcements.

New Zealand Post thanks all Union member countries and their designated operators for their understanding
