Sri Lanka – Update on measures to limit the spread of COVID-19

07 June, 2021

Update

The designated operator of Sri Lanka, the Department of Posts, wishes to inform all other Union member countries and their designated operators that, owing to the rapid spread of COVID-19, the Government of Sri Lanka has extended the current island-wide travel restrictions until 14 June 2021.

International airports remain open to cargo flights and a minimal number of passenger flights. All inbound mail will be transported to the Colombo office of exchange, operating with the limited workforce available. The processing and delivery of all inbound mail, as well as the transportation of outbound mail, will be heavily impacted by the current situation. The Department of Posts is therefore unable to guarantee compliance with the agreed delivery standards for all mail categories.

The Department of Posts thanks all Union member countries and their designated operators for their understanding.
