Sri Lanka – Temporarily restricted work plan

04 July, 2022

Update

The designated operator of Sri Lanka, the Department of Posts, wishes to inform other Union member countries and their designated operators that, owing to the ongoing fuel and power crisis and public transport issues, the Government of Sri Lanka has imposed a temporarily restricted work plan for government institutions with effect from 28 June 2022. In view of the Government's decision, the Department of Posts has temporarily limited all operational and administrative functions to three working days per week. As a result, all post office functions, including deliveries, will be scheduled for Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays only. The remaining working days of Monday, Friday and Saturday will be treated as remote working days. The Department of Posts wishes to highlight that clearance procedures for inbound mail to Sri Lanka will not be affected by this limitation, as arrangements to clear all incoming mail consignments arriving at Bandaranaike International Airport in Colombo have been duly implemented. In view of this situation, the Department of Posts is unable to guarantee compliance with the agreed delivery standards for all mail categories and with the quality link to remuneration for letter-post services.
