Aligned with science-based reduction initiative (SBTi), we embrace a continuous process to commit to more transparency and accountability while optimising supply chains and advancing circular economy initiatives.
We’re proud of our offsetting progress, but sustainability requires constant evolution. Transitioning to a comprehensive ESG approach, we aim for meaningful, measurable impact on the environment, our people, and communities.
Simon Batt, CEO
Asendia is committed to driving sustainability through a combined approach: advancing SBTi to lay the company-wide groundwork for meaningful change, while empowering our local teams to implement region-specific solutions, like stocking recycling in Italy and using sustainable renewable energy in the UK. We strive to make a positive impact locally through initiatives driven by our employees, who know best the needs of their local communities.

Leading with Science: Our Journey with SBTi Targets
In line with global efforts to combat climate change, we are committed to setting Science-based Targets (SBTs). This means: We will explore options to reduce our carbon emissions based on the latest climate science.
Carbon offsetting phase-out
Global carbon emissions for 2024 will be offset, after which the programme will be phased out.
Working with carbon conscious and still competitive transport suppliers
Asendia depends on transport providers for shipping, with over 95% of emissions coming from vehicles, primarily planes. While we don’t directly control these emissions, we are aiming to also work with carbon-conscious suppliers and carriers to reduce emissions across the supply chain.
Innovative Packaging Solutions for Sustainable Logistics (UK)
Our local operations in the UK are adopting solutions to reduce waste and promote sustainability in packaging and logistics. We have dedicated cardboard, paper and plastic Baling equipment, and all recyclable material is collected, sorted, and baled, ready for collection by our environment agency registered recycling partner.
Implementing Reusable Gaylords (US)
Large, durable containers designed for multiple uses. This initiative reduces the need for single-use packaging, minimising waste and improving shipping efficiency.
International Post Corporation’s (IPC) Eco Pallet Boxes Projects (UK)
These reusable pallet boxes aim to reduce environmental impact by enhancing packaging reuse and cutting down material waste.
#LifeReTights (Italy)
This initiative recycles worn-out tights and hosiery, helping reduce landfill waste and promote a circular economy.
Renewable energy (UK)
All three UK sites are powered by 100% renewable electricity (wind, solar and hydro), and our Heathrow processing centre also uses 100% renewable gas.
Eco-friendly fleet (UK)
Half of our UK fleet of six vehicles is now electric.
Certifications and Standards
We maintain a strong focus on ethical practices and supply chain integrity by conducting regular audits and providing ongoing staff training.
Upholding standards
We hold ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certifications across many subsidiaries, ensuring strong quality and environmental management processes in local markets.
Certifications
We hold EcoVadis Silver (top 15%) accreditation in the UK and Bronze (top 35%) accreditation in Italy, and are working towards additional certifications.
By prioritising measurable reductions, local initiatives, and transparent reporting, we aim to integrate ESG into our daily actions and support our partners on their own ESG journeys. Our upcoming CO2 Calculation Tool will provide valuable insights, helping businesses better understand and manage their emissions. This approach enables us to address the root causes of emissions, promote social responsibility, and maintain strong governance standards, ensuring that we lead with purpose and contribute to meaningful change.
